Wind Chill is a VERY 2007 movie to discover in 2026.
This did not go the direction I expected at all, so kudos for that.
The CGI shows its age, I assume it was a low budget movie back then.
Not your typical final girl
Starring Emily Blunt (A quiet place 1&2), her character is… giving mixed reactions.
Which is good. Don’t get me wrong.
But she sometimes is a raging bitch and sometimes the smartest person in the movie, and even becomes very compassionate, so she feels real which is a huge change in how horror movies usually work.
Especially back then.
She would have thrown the scientists from The cabin in the woods for a loop (pun intended).
Inflation : the scariest part
The grocery list for $60 gives the time period as well, that shit would have been around $200+ nowadays.
At first I thought it’d be a slasher with a crazy stalker, then I thought it’d be cult related… Boy was I wrong.
It’s a « let’s survive the rapey-vibes serial killing ghost cop » movie.
It was nice of the ghosts to give them breaks though in between, they were very thoughtful.
The “good guy” incel fantasy
Also, hum, what the fuck ? I get trauma and all, but kissing the stalker that *accidentally* got you in that situation in the first place ? What ?
No woman would ever do that.
Life or death doesn’t matter, they got stuck just 7 hours prior. This movie was 100% written by a guy who thinks he’s « one of the good ones ». I’d bet my hand on it.
The tension works though, and that’s a big praise. For an enclosed story, it’s what makes or breaks it.They rely on too many jump scares, but it’s often the case in ghost-time-loop movies.
I didn’t expect them to kill the male lead that fast, but it made sense in the end.
They just stopped caring and it’s hilarious
I absolutely love the fact that no one has a name in that movie.
The ending credits go « Guy, Girl, Priest, Stranger, Blonde girl… » I have no idea why but it’s funny as hell.
And they’re cold, yes, but they threatened snow and it didn’t snow. I love a script that doesn’t match the budget.
It’s so funny because they could have just removed that line from the radio broadcast. It’s amazing.
Let’s be honest, it’s not a masterpiece, it doesn’t change the genre, but it’s a decent watch.
If there’s nothing else available, I’m not against a rewatch.
My rating : 3/5 bats
