I’m going to preface this by saying that I really liked the first Cabin Fever, and the first two Hostel movies as they were a new type of horror at the time.
Were they perfect ? No. But they did the job and are memorable enough.
The Green Inferno and Thanksgiving have their own different issues. And they are legion.
But now with the Ice Cream Man remake coming out, a few new controversies arose.
While his work isn’t to everyone’s taste, we can all agree that the dialogue is often tedious and the hyper-sexualization of women is… unsettling.
That being said, I’d never looked into Eli Roth himself before, mainly for lack of interest… but reading that he is a zionist through and through that he even stated that Greta Thunberg should be eaten by cannibals for delivering aid to Gaza threw me off instantly.
There is quite a large amount of backlash concerning Ice Cream Man, as it copies a superior movie (Cooties), uses generative AI and, well, is done by Roth.
So from now on, I won’t be covering his work on the website anymore.
The horror universe is vast and rich, we don’t need to promote a piece of shit.
