Ready or not : Here I come came out in 2026.
The Radio Silence team came back to the director’s seat and added a few of the Abigail cast to the list, alongside Sarah Michelle Gellar and Elijah Wood as new faces.
No rest before the honeymoon
The movie starts right where it left off, to a bloody and traumatised Grace on the steps of the burning Le Domas mansion.
She even briefly died in the ambulance to give way to flashbacks as a quick reminder of the first opus.
Poor girl doesn’t even have time to take a full nap before she is hunted again.
And it was a nice touch to bring back the trashed-up dress and yellow Converses. It was a pleasant nod.
It’s a scream, baby
Yes adrenaline helps, but the way she’s been stabbed, shot and punched, she is one of the Ghostface killers at this point.
Same with her newly introduced sister, Faith (played by Kathryn Newton ).
In one of the most difficult scenes to watch, because it truly looks like domestic violence, she gets beaten down over and over again by Titus.
But in the end ?
Neither of them are swollen, blue-purple-green-yellow bruised, missing any teeth or even limping.
It’s a Scream miracle, truly.
One ring to rule them all
As always, we get back to the class divide, but on crack this time : how far would you go to control the world ?
How many people would have to die ?
Add a lot more family trauma, and you got a script !
The addition of Elijah Wood as the devil’s lawyer is precious.
He doesn’t react much, just mostly hides from the -many- blood explosions and it’s hilarious.
And it has to be the biggest wink in the history of winks to cast him as the guy to give the new ruler a golden ring everyone fights for.
Speaking of humour. The humor made me snort in the theater. Yes I’m talking about the bazooka and mace part, it was a glorious break from the pure hatred I felt towards the domestic violence scene.
It felt too close to reality, in a satanic pact movie. The 50+ white rich man punching a young woman senseless. It’s everyday life for some people, and they do get away with it as well.
Titus would probably be one of the killers in Hostel on a bi-weekly basis, just for funsies.
And watch manosphere videos on a loop.
Let them be gay and rule the world
And then the wedding offer gets brought up. I’m sure it wouldn’t have been an option, but given the choice, I would have asked to marry Sarah Michelle Gellar‘s character.
Le Bail is the devil, he shouldn’t be homophobic enough to say no, right ?
And it’d be a better opportunity as well (not for the ending we got, but you get it)…
Did I mention that I adore Samara Weaving‘s wedding dress in the end yet ? Like everyone on earth, yes.
But it is glorious. I love it so much. The visual representation here was on point. Our little final goth queen.
She even saved the goat. Grace for the win.
What now ?
All in all it was a worthy sequel. Yes there was a LOT of plot armor used for it to work, but I’m not mad at it.
If they do go for a trilogy, I just wish it’d be Le Bail making a new random deal with someone else.
I don’t think Grace could take another hit and not feel like the same plot all over again…
An anthology would work better in my opinion.
And they could even make it coherent, because as much as they want to believe white rich dudes rule the world, they actually didn’t show any of the Emirates princes and it’s a shocker.
They own most of the world, Dubai pretty much has global impunity.
At this point, making David Cronenberg the ruler of Earth was an odd choice, but we’ll allow it because it’s fiction. Rooted in the real world, but still.
So get another family playing cricket for their life or something silly as a set-up for a new wedding nightmare for the groom this time. As the two-times champion was a woman, it’s only fair.
Let Grace get her happy ending, and for the love of the devil, give her time to file for divorce properly at least !
My rating : 4/5 bats
