Ice nine kills

From ska-punk roots to Horror royalty

Lifelong fans of horror media, they began their career in 2002 by imitating their favorite pop-punk, metal, emo, and especially ska-punk bands. Spencer Charnas (vocals) even admitted he had the idea to create his own band at a Goldfinger and Mest show he attended.

Welcome to horrorwood

Working tirelessly for years, they gained more serious recognition with the 2015 release of the album “Every trick in the book,” inspired primarily by horror books (Dracula, The exorcist, Carrie, etc.).
It was with “The silver scream,” released in 2018, that they truly rose to fame.
Each song and music video references a horror movie, easily ranging from well-known titles like Friday the 13th and Halloween to Silent night, deadly night, which only true horror fans would recognize.
The silver scream‘s videos follow Spencer, as a deranged serial killer, during his sessions with a therapist.
In almost every iteration, he kills his life-long girlfriend, Nadia.

They then released “The Silver Scream 2 : Welcome to Horrorwood” in 2021, featuring songs dedicated to movies like Pet Sematary, Hostel, Child’s Play, Resident Evil, and others, cementing their notoriety.
The videos for the second installment follow Spencer’s trial as well as “Silence,” their new serial killer cult mascot.
A nice little nod is even made in the Funeral Derangements music video : Miko Hughes, who played Gage in the original movie, now plays the truck driver who runs over the child.
Having so many friends in the horror genre, they collaborated with Matthew Lillard, had their song in Terrifier 3, and even made a song for Scream 7 with Mckenna Grace.

A silver scream con

Riding this wave of success, they organized the first Silver scream con in 2022, a horror convention held in Massachusetts, with numerous film actors whom fans could meet as well as an Ice nine kills show.
They even exported the concept to London in 2025.
While I’m a huge fan of conventions, they brought American prices to the UK, making them scarier than the actual movies.

Ice nine kills : a horror experience

Using numerous props and theatrical staging, they recreate iconic scenes from many movies on stage, set to their metalcore sound. This is how Spencer finds himself wielding a chainsaw, wearing a clown mask, or simply imitating Patrick Bateman from American psycho, murdering his accomplices, or helping Art the clown deliver, and then play lasso with a fake baby.
The whole experience of their shows is truly like no other I’ve ever been to.
