The ruins of St Dunstan in the East’s church are located in central London, only a few steps away from Tower Hill.
Built in 1100, some renovations and extensions continued until 1391 before being severly damaged in 1666 in the Great fire of London, and later on with World War II.
The city then decided not to rebuild the edifice.
The gardens were open to the public back in 1970 and as of the past few years, are flooded with influencers and cosplayers. Very few areas are exempt of photographers.
They are closed during Christmas, New Year and Boxing Day.
Why is this on the website when it’s a famous tourist attraction ?
Well because legend states that Dustan, who was a known metallurgist, was tempted by the Devil himself while working at his forge.
He then seized the Devil’s nose with his boiling tongs and made him scream.
Thus cunning the Devil himself.
I love old legends like this, because it shows how easy stories are made up… and then some stick.
This one was even in Charles Dickens’ A Christmas carol.
