Horror oscar wins

Horror is finally understood and recognized.

Let’s all get a big round of applause to Sinners, Weapons and Frankenstein for their Oscar wins !

Now, I’m not going to be a hypocrite here. I wasn’t completely fond of Frankenstein (but I did love the costumes, and it’s what won, so we’re good) or Weapons, but…
Horror has been snubbed for decades.

Horror movies were ignored just for being in that specific category.
Toni Collette never won one for Hereditary.
Florence Pugh never got one for Midsommar.
Lupita Nyong’o never had one for Us.

But this week, Sinners has won 3 (Cinematography, best actor and best original screenplay), Weapons won one for best supporting actress, and Frankenstein won one as well.

Macabre is getting the legitimacy it deserves, after so many years being the mistreated underdog.
We knew its worth, but it feels good to see the academy finally opening its eyes.

They work hard. The brainless slashers are not all we have anymore.
This is vindication for horror fans everywhere.
They won.
